Loyola Marymount University welcomes eligible active duty and veterans, reservists, spouses, and dependents to participate in the VA education benefits programs for which they are eligible. LMU is pleased to be a partner in the veteran education benefits process and also welcomes active-duty service members who are eligible for benefits through the Tuition Assistance programs.
The School Certifying Official in the Office of the Registrar certifies enrollments for students who receive benefits through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the Department of Defense, and Tuition Assistance programs in the individual services. Students admitted to LMU who wish to use their benefits for educational expenses should email the School Certifying Official (SCO) in the Office of the Registrar as soon as possible. The SCO provides general assistance with issues related to benefits, maintains student benefit records, and serves as the point of contact with the VA Educational Liaison Representative (ELR) and Regional Office. LMU participates in the Department of Defense Principles of Excellence program and the GI Bill's Yellow Ribbon Program.
Working Toward an LMU Degree
LMU is authorized to certify enrollments for students who are enrolled in undergraduate or graduate degree-seeking programs. Full-time enrollment is expected. Students enrolled exclusively in non-degree programs, e.g., certificate or credential programs without an accompanying degree program, cannot be certified. Extension programs and courses are not eligible for VA certification. Extension courses, even if taken by degree-seeking students, are not eligible for VA benefits at LMU.
