Does the VA pay my full tuition at LMU?
Payment varies according to your Chapter Benefits which are determined solely by the VA. In the descriptions below, it states which chapters have full or partial coverage as well as those which do not have tuition and fees benefits. You are responsible for any portion of your tuition and fees that are not covered by your VA benefits.
LMU verifies your enrolled units and resulting tuition/fees to the VA. Submission to the VA does not guarantee VA payment.

Chapter 1606 The Montgomery GI Bill - Selective Reserves

The Montgomery GI Bill - Selective Reserves is for individuals in the Selected Reserve or National Guard (not active duty) who remain in good standing while serving. You must be currently and actively drilling and under a six-year contract and are eligible for benefits as long as you remain in the reserves.

The Montgomery GI Bill pays a set benefit based on the number of classes you are taking, referred to as your "training time."

Chapter 30 Montgomery GI Bill (MGIB)

The Montgomery GI Bill (MGIB) is available to all who enlist in the US Armed Forces. Benefits are generally payable for 10 years following release from honorable active service.

The VA does not pay for LMU tuition. It is your responsibility to see that tuition and fees are paid on time. Contact Ask VA for further information or call 1-800-827-1000.
Chapter 31 Vocational Rehabilatation
- Vocational Rehabilitation is for disabled service-connected veterans. Each student is assigned a vocational rehabilitation specialist who will assist both the veteran and the school’s certifying official.
- You must be authorized for semester enrollment by your counselor. The VA pays tuition and fees directly to LMU. The VA pays books and supplies to Barnes & Noble. Your counselor may ask for the following information:

Chapter 33 - the Post 9/11 GI Bill*
- You are given a number of months/days that you can be enrolled and receive benefits. The VA will count days based on the official dates of the term you are registered in. If you are a Veteran, the benefit covers an entire term as long as you have at least a day of benefits left to start the term. If the benefit was transferred to you, the VA prorates your benefit based on the exact number of days you have left and only pays for those specific days.
- To receive monthly BAH/MHA payments, your rate of pursuit must be greater than half-time each term.
- Undergraduate students must be enrolled in greater than six (6) units in fall and spring semesters, and greater than three (3) units in each summer session.
- Graduate students must be enrolled in greater than three (3) units in fall and spring semesters, and in each summer session.
- The Post 9/11 GI Bill benefit is for those who qualify for any GI Bill program. The VA will pay your tuition & fee payments directly to the school. Payments and maximums are based on your VA eligibility percentage.
- If your eligibility level is not 100%, you will be required to pay the balance or set up a satisfactory payment plan with Student Financial Services prior to the start of the semester. The VA pays LMU directly.

Chapter 33 - the Post 9/11 GI Bill with Yellow Ribbon benefits*

- As a Yellow Ribbon University, LMU will fund tuition and fee expenses that exceed amounts payable under the Post-9/11 GI Bill. The Yellow Ribbon Program was established by the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008, allowing colleges and universities to voluntarily enter into an agreement with the VA to fund tuition and fee expenses that exceed amounts payable under the Post-9/11 GI Bill.

Chapter 35 Dependents Educational Assistance
- The Dependents Educational Assistance Program is the only benefit for individuals without military service. It is for the dependents of a member of the Armed forces who died while on active duty or as the result of a disability that VA has determined as service-connected or is 100% permanently and totally disabled for a service-related reason.
